CESS-Exhibition 2075
Introduction
Civil Engineering Students’ Society Nepal (CESS- Nepal) presents competition on different category such as Model, Photography and Painting, Quiz and Presentation competition. The said competitions aims to promote scholastic excellence and competence through healthy and fair competition and at the same time, provide a venue for interaction amongst students and teachers from other +2 and BE colleges and universities.

CESS- Nepal expects active participation from various colleges and universities in the competitions organized during 10th National Civil Engineering Exhibition cum Competition – 2075 based on the theme:

“दिगो र समुचित विकासको गति, नवीन इन्जिनियरिङ्ग पद्धति ।”

Model Competition

  • This competition is for BE and +2 Students separately.
  • The competition expects scaled physical model of Civil Engineering subject related structures.
  • For +2 Students model based on the theme of the Civil Engineering Exhibition 2075 will be preferred. But any creative science based models are accepted.
  • Maximum of two teams are allowed from an institution other than Pulchowk Campus. From Pulchowk Campus, a maximum of  five models will be entertained.
    Each team should have a maximum of 6 (six) members.
  • The size of model should be less than 2m*2m.

The team can register to CESS-Nepal and submit abstract till Magh-15.

Photography Competition

  • This competition will be held separately of BE and +2 students.
  • Civil Engineering related photographs and painting under the theme of exhibition taken only by the competitors themselves and not modified in any case and not published or exhibited before competition are allowed.
  • +2 Students are allowed to include +2 Science related photographs and paintings too.
  • The maximum of 2 (two) teams will be registered for competition per institution.
  • Each team may have maximum of 3 (three) members.

Photographs should be submitted in accordance to following requirements:

  • Size: A3
  • Paper: Premium Glossy
  • Winner is selected on basis of 25% jury and 75% voting.
  • Submission deadline:
    23rd Magh 2 pm
  • Please submit the photographs in printed format in the size as mentioned above either in B/W or color

Note: Criteria for photography are different in the site than the invitation letters forwarded to colleges. Please follow the criteria provided in the site.

Slide and Paper Presentation

  • This competition will be held separately for BE and +2 Students.
  • This category includes the Civil Engineering presentation either slides or paper based.
  • +2 Students can include +2 science related presentations too.
  • Each team may have a maximum of 2 (two) members and the time will be limited for 10 minutes only.

BE Quiz Competition

  • Quiz contest consist of variety of subjects with civil engineering being one of them.
  • The maximum of 2 (two) teams will be registered from Pulchowk Campus. However, the maximum number of team from other colleges will be 1 (one) per college. In this category, each team should have 4 (four) members irrespective of their academic year.
  • Entry fee: Rs.1200/team for colleges other an Pulchowk Campus. First price: Rs 5000, 1st runner up: Rs 3000, and 2nd runner up : 2000.  including medals, trophy and certificate of appreciations.

+2 Quiz competition

  • Quiz contest is primarily based on General Knowledge and Current Affairs including various rounds viz. General, Mixed Bag, Gambling, Rapid Fire, etc.
  • Only one team can register from a college. In this category, each team should have 3 (three) members irrespective of their academic year.

Software Competition

  • This category includes the Civil Engineering related software presentation.
  • Each team may have a maximum of 3 (three) members. The participant can be from any department of Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Software/Program should be based on Civil Engineering.
  • Any programming language (Java, Python, VBA, C++, Matlab, etc.) can be used and any related software required should be brought by participants.
  • Software demonstration will be held on 8th February, 2019.
  • Participants should send a report including codes by 6th February, 2019 to the cessnepal2019@gmail.com.
  • Laptop and other software(if required) should be brought by participants.
  • A report should include:
    • Introduction
    • Benefits and Drawbacks of the software.
    • Hard copy of the coding.
  • Entry Fee: Rs 1000/team for colleges other than Pulchowk Campus.

Paper Bridge Competition
Form submission Deadline: 22nd Magh, 2075 (Link to Form)
Entry fee: Rs. 500/-
Prize: Rs. 5000/-

Criteria for the competition are listed below:
• Each group shall have a maximum of four (4) members.
• Bridge shall be a truss bridge.
• Span of bridge shall be a minimum of 40 cm.
• Width of bridge shall be a minimum of 5 cm.
• Each member of bridge shall be constructed of paper with the aid of Fevicol.
• Diameter of a member shall be a maximum of 2 cm.
• Deck length shall be equal to 10 cm.
• Use of any kind of adhesive materials like cello tape, insulating tape, etc. (other than fevicol) is prohibited.
• Thickness of paper shall be as that of general newspaper.
• Maximum of 2 kg paper shall be provided.
• Total mass of bridge shall not exceed 1.5 kg.
• Winner shall be announced as per the following evaluation:
i. 50 % marking on largest load withstood and 50% marking on truss explanation.
ii. If the marks obtained by more than one group are equal then prize shall be distributed among them.
iii. If any controversy arises then, final decision made by CESS-Nepal committee will be valid.
